How to find time in June

Annika Rosendahl

Jun 21, 2022

Have you ever put your kids to bed, wishing they would fall asleep quickly so you can get back to all the other things you still need to do?

If it is easy to feel that way.

At the same time many parents wish they could spend more time with their children than they do and less time with people who drain their energy.

This month I help you make the most of your time and energy by rethinking, reconnecting or cherishing the time you spend with people around you.

Find time in June by looking at the different relationships in your life and do one of 3 things for each one of them:

  • Cherish the time you have together (don’t waste it by thinking about something else when you are with your loved ones).
  • Reconnect with people you have lost touch with (if you think reconnecting will give you energy and joy)
  • Rethink the relationships that drain you. (Can you forgive and let go? Can you set clear boundaries? Can you stop seeing a person or significantly reduce how often you meet?)

You can use the section Relationships in the Holistic Time Management planner or write your own table with people and actions in each category. (See the video for details).

You can also get more help about relationships in this webinar about the dream of happily ever after and handling difficult life events.

You can also watch this webinar with relationship coach Hanne Hilleren to reduce frustration and hurt and increase love and energy in your relationships.

These webinars are accessible for Timefinder Academy members.

You can sign up and get access immediately here.

I hope you will find time and energy by managing and enjoying your relationships well!

How to find time in March

Annika Rosendahl

Mar 14, 2022

Welcome to How to find time in March!

Have you ever reached the end of a week with a lot of the things you had hoped to do still undone?

Have you ever blamed yourself about it?

Don’t.

Blaming yourself will just reduce your energy and joy and you will waste more time. It is a vicious circle.

This month I help you get out of the feeling of always being behind.

#

Find time in March by planning only what can fit in a week rather than what you think you should get done. You simply cannot fit 400 hours of work into a week of 168 hours.

When you fully accept this and dare to say no to yourself and others so you can focus on what you can get done, you will become efficient and calm.

To learn how to set yourself up for success with realistic plans, watch this webinar.

This webinar is accessible for Timefinder Academy members.

You can sign up and get access immediately >>> here <<<.

I hope you will find the courage to say no to the things that will not fit in your glass of time, so you can enjoy the things that do!

How to find time in February

Annika Rosendahl

Feb 15, 2022

Welcome to How to find time in February!

Have you ever been in a meeting that doesn’t end at the planned time, feeling stressed about how that makes you late to the next meeting - or worse - late to picking up your kids?

There is a simple way to avoid this kind of stress.

All it takes is asking yourself one question...

This month I give you a simple but powerful tool to manage your time, all day every day.

#

Find time in February, by asking yourself: How do I want to use my time? Throughout the day.

Does something take longer than planned?

Pause and ask yourself how you want to use your time. Continue or stop? Stay in the meeting that takes too long, or let the other participants know it is the end of the meeting time and suggest a new time to finalize?

Does something go faster than planned?

Ask yourself how you want to use the “extra time” so you don’t end up wasting it.

To get more helpful examples and to watch an inspiring story about how a mother gets a completely different experience of her day by using this simple technique, watch this webinar.

This webinar is accessible for Timefinder Academy members.

You can sign up and get access immediately >>> here <<<.

I hope you will apply this simple tip immediately, so you get away from stress and find yourself in control of your time – regardless of what happens during the day!

How to find time in January

Annika Rosendahl

Jan 18, 2022

Welcome to How to find time in Jannuary!

Are you all excited about the new year?

Eager to achieve and experience new things?

I hope so!

Are you also worried you may not get them done?

That you will lose energy and enthusiasm on the way or maybe get overwhelmed?

This month I help you by telling you about the 3 levels of plans you need to stay balanced, on track and out of last-minute rush!

#
Find time in January, by introducing and using 3 levels of plans:
  • Your weekly plan.

Make sure you spend the 168 hours in ways that give you energy and room for what you want. That way you will be able to use the rest of your time efficiently. You can learn more about weekly planning here.

  • Your Daily plan.

Keep yourself on track without overloading your brain. Focus on 3 wanted outcomes, keep track of all deadlines and appointments and see anything else as bonus. You can learn more about daily planning here.

  • Your monthly plan.

Avoid the last-minute rush and unnecessary collisions with a monthly outlook. Don’t go into details just look ahead and see how you can be ready for different events and appointments. You can learn more about monthly planning here.

To learn even more about these types of plans, plus the powerful concept: Do it now or do it now later, watch this webinar to get examples and guidance.

This webinar is accessible for Timefinder Academy members.

You can sign up and get access immediately >>> here <<<.

These 3 types of plans have helped many, I hope they will help you too!

PS.

If you haven’t set any goals for this year and you would like to give yourself some inspiration and guidance, apply the WINE analysis I described in the July 2021 blogpost!

If you have a specific goal and you want a plan to achieve that goal, apply the long-term planning methods I describe in the September 2021 blogpost!

How to find time in December

Annika Rosendahl

Dec 1, 2021

Welcome to December, a perfect month to look back at the year in a way that gives energy and insights for the coming year.

I suggest you do a WINE analysis for the year that is now coming to an end. You will move focus from “all the things you didn’t get done” to the things you have experienced and achieved this year, in 4 important areas and 3 spheres of your life.

This will empower you and give you a great platform for new goals next year!

#

We are used to focusing on all the things we have not yet done. Too often we beat ourselves up about it. This reduces energy and makes us even less likely to achieve future goals.

What we often forget is that we get things done and we experience and achieve things all the time. Recognizing this increases energy and our chances of achieving more in the future.

What I suggest you do in December is to take time out, together with your loved ones if you can, and do a WINE analysis.

WINE is an acronym for

  • Winning
  • Influence
  • Needed
  • Enjoyment

Reflecting about what you have experienced this year in these 4 areas in 3 of your life spheres is likely to make you happy and proud!

Image from HTM Planner

Instructions for How to find time in December:

  1. Set aside one hour for reflection. Alone or with your loved ones.
  2. Sit down with pen and paper (or computer if you turn off notifications that distract you) and look at each area and life sphere in the WINE analysis. Write down what you have achieved and experienced in these areas. Celebrate and enjoy! Learn and grow!

Tools and guidance:

Watch this webinar to get examples and guidance. Reflect back on the year along with the participants!

This webinar is accessible for Timefinder Academy members.

You can sign up and get access immediately >>> here <<<.

If you are not yet ready to join the academy, just download >>> this template<<< and use it when you fill in your own WINE analysis.

How to find time in November

Annika Rosendahl

Nov 16, 2021

Welcome to How to find time in November!

Happy, energetic people will always get more done than sad, stressed-out people.

One way of helping yourself be energetic is by giving yourself the kind of nutrition that gives energy and health.

You don’t have to learn a new, fancy diet.

The simple guidelines I share in this month’s blog will be enough.

#

Eat food, not too much, mostly plants.

I like simplicity. That is probably why the advice from Michael Pollan stuck with me.

Simple, straightforward solutions are always easier to follow than complicated ones.

If you follow Michael’s advice, you will eat well.

If on top of that, you give your body what it needs the most (and no, that is not food) and ensure you eat mindfully at least most of the time, you can let yourself eat a bit crazy during the holidays that are coming up in December.

How to find time in November

Tools and guidance:

The guidelines I share in the video are easy to apply. All you need to do is to remind yourself about them and make sure they become a habit.

How to find time in October

Annika Rosendahl

Oct 12, 2021

Welcome to How to find time in October!

Do you feel rushed and behind?

We often do in this quarter.

Many goals, be they private or professional, have their due date at the end of the year.

It is easy to get stuck in “the zone of demand” where everything is urgent and important.

That is not a good place to be, at least not for long.

This month I am helping you move away from continuous urgency.

That requires using the Eisenhower Matrix with a twist.

#

The Eisenhower matrix is a tool that is very helpful when planning and prioritizing your day.

Many give up on it because they are unable to follow the recommendation to delegate what is urgent but not so important. Others may feel guilty using it since they do things that are neither important nor urgent when they are too tired to do anything else.

The key is to spend more time in the “sweet spot”, working on what is not yet urgent but still important. EVEN when you feel that you “don’t have time”. If you don’t, you will be stuck in the zone of demands.

When you take time to prepare delegation, you will be able to let go of things that are not important even if they are urgent.

When you take care of yourself, you will waste less time in the zone of distraction.

In other words, use the Eisenhower matrix with a twist.

How to find time in October

Tools and guidance:

Set aside an hour to learn and apply the Eisenhower matrix with a twist.

How to find time in September

Annika Rosendahl

Sep 5, 2021

Welcome to How to find time in September!

At this time of year, we still have some time to reach the goals we envisioned at the beginning of the year. Long-term planning will help us get from where we are to where we want to be.

This month I am telling you about 3 different ways of planning to achieve goals.

I hope one of them will help you reach whatever goal is currently important to you.

#

Long-term planning will always be about envisioning where you are going and then finding a way to get there without being overwhelmed, confused, or stuck.

As I explain in the video, you can apply different approaches, depending on the goal.

Do you know, more or less, what you need to do to reach the goal?

Use a Work Breakdown Structure

Is it a goal you don’t really know how to achieve?

Use a problem statement and an issue tree.

Is it a goal, or even a dream, where progress is more important than reaching a specific deadline?

Apply the Vision-Next step approach

How to find time in September

Tools and guidance:

Give yourself an hour to create your plan.

Watch the webinar Master Long Term planning and choose the approach that works for you.

How to find time in August

Annika Rosendahl

Aug 11, 2021

Welcome to How To Find Time In August!

This time, I want to help you optimise the time you have

You may know by now, that we all have a glass of time.

The glass contains the amount of time we have each week: 168 hours.

To find time for what we want in that glass we need to take care of our energy (Needs time) and our joy (Want time). Once we have secured that, we can efficiently handle the other things we may feel we should do.

In August, I suggest you combine activities in your Needs time, your Want time and your “should” time. That way you can fit more into your glass of time.

How to combine activities and fit more into your glass of time.

There are many ways to combine different tasks. Before you listen to the tips in the video, let me warn you about a common misunderstanding.

Many people think efficiency means doing something every single minute of the day. They mistake being busy for being efficient. Real efficiency comes from valuing and making the most of every moment.

We can multitask, we cannot multi-think.

Listen to the video for tips about putting children to bed, doing dishes, and cleaning the house in ways that are fun, meaningful and efficient.

#
How to find time in August
  • Listen to the tips in the video.
  • Sit down with pen and paper (or computer if you turn off notifications that distract you) and come up with combinations you want to try out.

Remember, this is NOT about cramming in activities. That will just give you a false feeling of efficiency. Instead, focus on making each activity worthwhile and fun.

Tools and guidance

Watch this webinar to get examples and guidance on how you can combine activities and make more of the time you have.

How to find time in July

Annika Rosendahl

Jul 14, 2021

Welcome to the first month of the second half of the year!

This is a great month to reflect on what we have achieved and experienced in the first half of the year and what we want to achieve and experience in the second half.

Do a WINE analysis to ensure you cover the areas that really make a difference.

That way you will find time not only in July but also the rest of the year!

A lot of people don't make good use of their time because they don't know what they want to do.

We tend to do what we think we must, or should do, rather than what we want to do.

Let’s give ourselves some guidance in how to use our time!

What I suggest you do in July is to take time out, ideally two times one hour, together with your loved ones if you can.

Then do a WINE analysis.

I am not referring to drinking wine, even if you're welcome to do that. I am talking about an acronym that will help you focus on areas that according to research are the areas we need to focus on to feel successful and fulfilled.

Winning

Influence

Needed

Enjoyment

I'm also suggesting that you look at three life spheres since life is so much more than work, which is the area we typically set goals in. Look at your personal and professional life as well as your relationships.

Image from HTM Planner

How to find time in July

·       Set aside one hour for reflection. Alone or with your loved ones.

·       Sit down with pen and paper (or computer if you turn off notifications that distract you) and look at each area and life sphere in the WINE analysis. Write down what you have achieved and experienced in these areas. Celebrate and enjoy! Learn and grow!

·       Set aside another hour to do the same for the rest of the year. This time you will focus on what you want to achieve and experience in different areas the rest of the year. Get inspired! Set yourself up for success!

Tools and guidance:

Watch these webinars to get examples and guidance. Do the WINE analysis along with the participants!
